You know that work I don't mention? Well, I started at 8:00 am yesterday (Sunday), and I just finished now. 3:20 am Monday.

When people ask me where I'm from, I say "the Bay Area", even though I haven't lived there in over a decade. It's still home. I was just dumb enough to pick two careers that can only be done consistently and for decent money here in Southern California. I am a bleeding-heart liberal, so don't expect any warm fuzzies for George "Wombat" Bush.

A few hours, but I had to be back at work again on Monday..
Slavedrivers! All of them! (You know, whoever they are.) And to think I complain (silently and not to my boss) when I stay an extra hour at the office.
It's always hard after hiatus. You need to commit to everything that comes your way in the fall, or else they give the whole project to someone else for the rest of the year. Three projects rolling simultaneously in August/September means there's a good chance you'll still be employed somewhere come February. It just makes for a pretty woozy August/September.
Plus, money is tight so you think, "Hey, it's just one double shift. Think of all the extra money!"
Forgetting that you'll have to end up skipping a full work day just to recover.
Duh.
I'll learn somethin' some day. Really.
