When people ask me where I'm from, I say "the Bay Area", even though I haven't lived there in over a decade. It's still home. I was just dumb enough to pick two careers that can only be done consistently and for decent money here in Southern California. I am a bleeding-heart liberal, so don't expect any warm fuzzies for George "Wombat" Bush.

I got sucked into the combined vortex hell of construction and work.
The contractor installed our new cork floor all wrong, did a lousy job on the underlayment so it's all lumpy, and because it's glued down the whole thing will need to be torn out, thrown away, the underlayment refinished, and a whole new custom colored floor ordered and payed for to fix it. Feeling a little nauseous. Might as well have taken $5000 out and burned it.
I can't even start on the work dramas.
Sigh. Someday, we'll get our life back.
